I successfully installed Age of Empires 2 DE but only after re-installing the latest Windows 10 image (keeping my existing files) I even managed to start a game, but as it was late at night, I had to come back a couple of days later. Now it states that it needs administrator privileges to run.

Download vc_redist, move it to the system32 folder in the C drive then use the commands âcabextract vc_redist.exeâ and then âcabextract a10â. This solved the desync issues for me. Iâm sure there are guides out there but Iâm on mobile atm. You might have to get cabextract using homebrew first. more replies. _maxpou.
So I updated to Windows 11. Installed the latest nVidia drivers for Windows 11. AOE starts out at around 113 FPS and as the game progresses drops down to 7 FPS. It's not a network connection issue as both parties are at 910 Mbps down and 50 Mbps up. My hardware ins AMD 5950X and nVidia Titan RTX 24GB, RAM 64GB. I had ZERO problems with AOE in Windows 10, but was forced to upgrade to Windows 11.
it work very nicely on linux (i am playing on MP only) , i have the same performance than on my windows host. To get mods working, you need to install mod on a windows setup; it will be updated through Steam cloud when you will run on linux next time. Looking forward to running AoE DE on Fedora.

AoE II won't play after Windows 10 upgrade. Hello, community. This past weekend I updated to Windows 10, and have since been unable to get my AoE 2 going. I still use the CD version, and it still shows up in my computer, but double clicking yields no results. I was wondering if anyone else has had this issue, or if you have any advice to give.

Windows 11 ARM runs great in a Parallels VM on my MacBook Pro M1 Max. I tried to install Age of Empires which led to problems with the Microsoft Store. I have tried reseting and repairing the Microsoft Store via Settings -> Apps -> Installed Apps -> Microsoft Store Advanced -> Reset/Repair. I have also run the following commands:
steamapps -> common -> Age Of Empires 3 -> bin -> age3.exe, age3x.exe and age3y.exe age3.exe, age3x.exe and age3y.exe, each file you need to right click with the mousebutton -> Properties -> Compatible -> Set mode to Windows Vista (Service Pack 2), Windows 7 or indows 8 -> Turn on Administrator licence. You are done, have fun!
